Celebrity Feuds
Kathy Griffin Dishes on Rosie

The straw that broke Rosie O'Donnell's "View" back? According to Rosie pal Kathy Griffin, O'Donnell grew incensed when "View" producers chose to sensationalize the recent on-air fight between Ro and co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck -- with a split screen graphic. Curiously, Griffin told People, it was the show's technical decision that pushed O'Donnell over the edge. "I said, 'What was it really?'" recalled Griffin. "'The split-screen." She said, 'I don't want to do "Hannity and Colmes."

Griffin, who's filled-in twice for O'Donnell in the past few weeks on "The View," dished about Rosie's reason for leaving to a sold out crowd at Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel and Casino.

Griffin also revealed that O'Donnell's hatred of Hasselbeck might not run so deep. When Rosie heard that Donald Trump had called Hasselbeck "stupid," she expressed sadness. "She doesn't even hate Elisabeth," said Griffin.

153. What bothers me most about the comments and everything said here are the labels and name calling. Liberals, Conservatives, Right, Left, Lesbian, Straight, Fat Pig, Bitch, Ditzy Blond, Idiot, etc. Does anyone remember that who we all are? We are Americans. Our differences, inside and out, is what unites us.

Why can't we be more respectful without resulting to name calling and labels. To everyone's credit on here, there are some truths to most of the comments. However, I believe virtually every comment doesn't tell the whole story, nor could a single person be 100% right. By simply commenting on this story, you probably hold a bias and will not focus in on all the facts that don't concern or support your opinion.

I'm of a mind that as an Iraqi, though maybe not said as well by Rosie, I might view the loss of my family and friends...the deaths as a result of America's actions. There may be a growing anger and hate, a sense of defeat and loss we can't imagine here, that would result from this. I'm certain that there are Iraqi's who equate us to "terrorists" and as an unwelcomed, occupying country their for selfish reasons. But to say this only is making to generalized of a statement and is way to basic for a way to complicated issue.

I supported the initial war based on the evidence presented to the public. The thought was that the threat was eminent. However, if they knew otherwise (Democrats, Republicans - I don't care who they are) and misled us or realized soon after, they need to held accountable for a mistake that not only resulted in over 3,400 deaths of sons and daughters of this country, but to so many more scarred for life, both Iraqi and Americans. Furthermore, it is clear no matter whether you supported or opposed the war from the beginning, that the architects of the war never considered nor planned for how to maintain and rebuild the country. It just leaves me to believe they were more concern with the war than the people, lives and country of those who will forever bear the burden of misguided or miscalculated plans to invade another country with no foresight and care.

So no matter who you are, we are Americans. We are on the same side, but clearly something needs to be changed there. The lives being lost today are a result of bad planning for the consequences of our invasion...no matter we agree or disagree for the reasons to going.

The best thing we can do is commit ourselves to supporting the troops that are serving there, while working to correct the situation. I'm a veteran with friends and family currently serving. Many of them are disheartened and don't understand the purpose of our occupation and participation at this point, but they didn't sign up to invade Iraq, they signed up to serve their country, become better individuals, to pursue a career, to pursue an education to become better people for a better nation. So now we could best serve those that are serving by insisting, by writing our congressmen and women, that accountability for poor planning be delivered and held now and plans to get those and all those at risk out of harms way, with a plan to normalize the region and calm the anti-American sentiment that will leave us in greater harms way, than before we entered into this plight.

154. Regarding O'Donnell feeling like a foster child on the View - THAT explains it!! She really is a foster child. She acts just like an unruly one. Alot of foster children act out (especially older ones). Unfortunately they don't have the means and age to make changes to their lives and consequently maybe turn out ok. What's her excuse? She is rich and can do what she wants.
I'm just so glad to see her go. I am one who stopped watching the View when she was on it. There are alot of other places I could turn to if I wanted to hear alot of obnoxious, hot air. I really used to like her in the old days of her standup comedy but now I just ignore her. She's not worth my time and interest.

One thing about Elizabeth that I would like to say is that if, as the press states, she supports DUBYA and the war then I would like to suggest that she get her husband to enlist in the military. He's young and healthy enough. His tail would be sent to Iraq faster than she could imagine. She is caught up in some right wing crap and thinks she sounds patriotic. Anyone can be patriotic. We need to impeach this guy and also not allow him to give speeches at cemetaries and funerals about our fallen heroes and the lives they gave for us. They gave their lives for NOTHING - they gave them for the likes of him - the liar that got us into this mess and who continues to be responsible for the deaths of our loved ones. We're a joke over there. They don't want us there. Things we build, they blow up. They continue to kill one another as well as our men and women. When is someone going to say enough and legally impeach him? PUHLEEZE!!!

Again - good riddance RODonnell.

155. Phil, I have a nephew in Iraq with The Marine Corps Light Attack Helicopter "Gunfighter" Squadron. They have taken casualties and he is in a highly active theatre.

I am just damned proud of him; I wish he was my son.He is worth far more than my somewhat effeminate sweetie-boy nephews who would never serve. It is good that we have an all-volunteer military, but it would certainly benefit many boys if it were otherwise.

It is quite evident if you contrast the groups.

156. A tape has been leaked of live footage of the pre-airing crowd warm-up the day Rosie went off on Elisabeth. And, called the USA and its Armed men and women in uniform terrorists.

In it Rosie is pitching her bizarre crack-pot World Trade Center U.S Government bomb conspiracy theory.

And, it is supporting evidence that the network was more than eager to part ways with Rosie due to her rantings and ravings.

157. Although I believe that Elisabeth had no obligation to defend Rosie, and therefore Rosie was a bit unreasonable about demanding that Elisabeth support her, I think Rosie came across better after this. Elisabeth was hostile in her body language, pointing fingers, and her facial expressions were over the top angry. Elisabeth should have simply said, "Rosie, I feel that you are perfectly capable of defending yourself. I don't need to be your mouthpiece."

It seems that Rosie was saying that innocent people were dying in Iraq, and it is the same thing here or there. I didn't take it LITERALLY that they were terrorists, but that the effect on families and the psyche is the same.

Elisabeth comes across as very sweet usually, where Rosie is somewhat rough. But somehow on this cat fight, Rosie wasn't baited and remained rational and calm. Unlike Elisabeth.

As much as I don't like the Donald, he came across as being able to see through the whole mess. He doesn't like Rosie, but he sees her point in this situation. No need for him to say what he did about Elisabeth being stupid, though.

I wonder how Elisabeth's views will soften as she goes through different stages of life. On Paris's jail term, she didn't think her mother was right to let jail teach her something. Well, Paris is well over the age of a child, sometimes the best one does isn't good enough. I think she accepted this so much better than many parents of adult screwups--she didn't justify or try to bail Paris out. Elisabeth can still keep watch on her kid all the time (or hire someone). It seems Elisabeth is still under the impression that if you give 100% to your kid, then he/she won't have issues later. The preacher's son is often not the ideal kid, Elisabeth...

158. I find it remarkable that the Liberals rant, lie, and have not plan but to bash our President. I feel he is doing a good job. It is clear that Congress does support the President in the war effort. Most Democrats in Congress are moderate. Look at Joe Lieberman. He was re-elected over an anti-war Democrat in a democratic state--Connecticut. American's reject the idea of meekly waiting to be slaughtered by terrorists. While most agree the war in Iraq is a problem, it is not one to be solved by walking away. The people over there are cooperating in finding the bad guys.

Donald Trump was right in his assessment of Rosie. She is a dumb woman with serious mental problems. I"ll add she has no class and sets a poor example. American's want good role models. We want polite discussion and not bashing without alternatives.

I wish Elizabeth H had taken the time to refute ever one of the points raised at the beginning of the show. The View is sharply tilted to the left and does not provide a fair and balanced view of politics. EH is the only conservative on the show. I think that given the 50/50 nature of politics in this country, the View needs to replace Rosie with someone like Ann Coulter who can express the views of conservatives. That would put a strong speaker for conservative views on the air, someone who could effectively quash all the nonsense spouted by those three losers, and with EH some balance to the show.

I'd also like to say, the show is at present a joke. People who watch it laugh at the other three hosts. I'm sure they think they represent the bulk of American's, but they don't. American's support the war--so does Congress--the voted to fund it without restrictions. so anyone who thinks pulling out is a good idea is in the minority. Face it.

160. Ad hominem attacks on O'Donnell and Hasselback are not the issue. Avoid the discussions that attempt to make it so. Things you see and hear in the media may not necessarily agree with your personal view. That is, does O and H only merit your approval if they are clearly on your side? O'Donnell and Hasselbeck both have a stake in protecting their beliefs, that's clear. But ask yourself if you are a stakeholder to the core, vs. a thinking being; if either O or H were found to be absolutley right, without question, would it make a difference to a stakeholder? No, of course not. Stakeholders go down with the ship, right , wrong, or indifferent. It's an emotional decision. And a wrong one. Avoid getting on one "side" or another of an issue that is purely emotional, because without a lot of fireworks, such positions do not hold-up well to the light of reasoned thinking. Be aware that calling someone "fat", or a "bitch" does not change the demand for real answers to inportant issues. It just makes stakeholders feel good until they feelings get hurt again, and they can then turn around and throw more mud while nothing substantive is ever discussed. Many here may dismiss my comments as another example of "waffling" the issue. So be it. I can accept that, because issues are indeed more like waffles than dead certainties, like the answers to human aggression and violence are not certain, nor are the causes. O and H are symptoms of a much larger problem, and to this blog's credit, that is obvious in the responses it generates. It just hasn't gotten around to talking about it yet.

163. How sad. How very sad. Rosie has deep deep wounds that vilify such behavior and ignorance. To speak the way she does reveals her innermost being and convictions. What are they? Not sure except experience tells me that the incredible conflictedness she has with herself, her past and others makes her seem very ill and in need of someoine who can be a real friend and help her walk through this mess..if there exists such a person and if Rosie could let go and give her life over to someone else to help her heal!

165. Hey Rosie Facts, don't use us Asians in making up bull crap about Rosie. Her comedic sketch had nothing to do making fun of Asians. I've seen the clip and there was nothing malicious about it from Rosie. I've heard more racism in Texas about Asians than I've heard from Rosie. You don't speak for Asians so leave us out of it. Go ahead and waste your time on useless things but stop bothering us Asians about it!
